What is Sacred Sound and How Can It Benefit You?

"A person doesn't hear sound only through the ears; he hears sound through every pore of his body. It permeates the entire being."

-- Sufi Musician, Healer and Mystic, Hazrat Inayat Khan

Benefits of Sacred Sound Bath/ Gong Bath

All Instruments used are carefully selected for their beneficial frequencies to the body.

Most people immediately remark that their quality of mind shifts from a state of activity, anxiety, and preoccupation to an undeniable experience of stillness and calm that has perhaps otherwise been inaccessible to them. It’s not only the mind that is relaxed and pacified into a peaceful state. The vibrational frequencies of sound healing instruments like crystal bowls have the ability to move through skin, fluid, and bones of the body, creating a full body relaxation and recalibration down to the level of the cellular structure. The experience creates an environment of “resonance” within the body.

Gong baths are an ancient form of sound therapy to bring about release, healing, deep relaxation and transformation.

The gong induces a holistic resonance in the body and a spontaneous meditative state in the mind, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and wholeness. A gong bath detoxifies blood, harmonizes the cells AND re-boots and balances the brain.

Just as a body massage works out the tight and knotted muscles, the "sonic massage" of a gong bath works out emotional issues that we need to release in order to move on.  The gong evokes a deep, rich, intricate web of reverberations that quiets the mind, allowing a profound relaxation to take place; a state during which self-healing is more likely to occur.

Are We Changed by Music?

Playing instruments in the Sacred Circle

"Music affects the biology of the brain, through its activation of specialized neural pathways, its synchronization of the firing patterns of neural assemblies, and its modulation of key neurotransmitters and hormones. Together, these drive a range of changes that are important to our survival and well-being." - Daniel J. Levitin, Author of This is Your Brain on Music.

So, the simple answer is 'yes'! Our bodies are naturally attuned to respond positively to certain frequencies. This leads to changes at a cellular level. Our cells are entrained and come into resonance with the frequencies and tones of sacred sound whether it's a drum, crystal singing bowls, gong, chimes, flute, etc. they all bring about an internal and external harmony of body, mind and spirit.

One of the most beneficial sounds is something that we all have within us; our own voice.

Our voices are truly a sacred instrument!
